3. Making massive upgrade to defensive front

Last season Larry Ogunjobi and Myles Garrett were on the field entirely too much. Especially with Ogunjobi, those reps caught up to them and their production dropped near the end of the season, but the depth behind them was so thin and full of scrubs that the Browns had no choice but to overuse their two young defensive linemen.

This offseason Dorsey and his team prioritized getting some help up front in order to build more depth around Garrett and Ogunjobi in 2019. While they could still add a bit more depth to their defensive front, the Browns took a huge step forward along their line.

First, Dorsey landed edge rusher Olivier Vernon from the New York Giants to play across from Garrett, allowing second-year player Genard Avery to serve as a high-quality rotational piece. Then the Browns spent big money to bring in Sheldon Richardson to play next to Ogunjobi in the trenches.

Now fielding a starting defensive front of Garrett, Ogunjobi, Richardson and Vernon, the Browns may have one of the more formidable starting units along their defensive line in the entire league. This upgrade comes in as the third best move of the offseason made in Cleveland this year.
