Erratic would be the best way to describe the Baltimore Ravens offense throughout the first half of 2018. And once rookie quarterback Lamar Jackson finally entered the starting lineup, things would change dramatically in terms of game plan. The former Louisville star would make steady appearances for the team and the club took advantage of his skills. But John Harbaugh’s attack would be a totally different beast in the final seven games and postseason.

During Baltimore’s 6-1 finish, the Ravens managed to run for a brisk 229.8 yards per game. Running back Gus Edwards would up leading the team in rushing yards (718). But in those final seven contests, he rolled up 654 yards and two touchdowns on 122 attempts and ran for 100 or more yards in three of those seven outings.

All told, only the Seattle Seahawks wound up running for more yards than the Ravens in 2018. And this offseason, the club not only named Greg Roman their new offensive coordinator but veteran running back Mark Ingram was added in free agency.

So can the Ravens make the jump from being No. 2 in rushing offense to leading the league in this category in 2019? Along with Ingram and Edwards, there’s rookie Justice Hill (4-Oklahoma State). Kenneth Dixon is still in the mix as well. And there’s Jackson, who figures to be an improved overall player in his second year. It will be interesting to see how this running attack develops.
