2. Terrell Owens – WR

During Terrell Owens’ 11 seasons that took place in the 21st century, only four of them came in a 49ers uniform. However, these four years were arguably the most productive of Owens’ entire career in the NFL.

From 2000-02, he finished each season with at least 93 catches, 1,300 yards and 13 touchdowns. During this time period, Owens’ 42 receiving touchdowns were more than any other player in the NFL.

In his four years with San Francisco during the 21st century, the talented receiver earned four trips to the Pro Bowl and three First-Team All-Pro selections. Owens’ three All-Pro selections are the most of any 49ers offensive player since the 2000 season.

Despite only appearing in four seasons for San Francisco during the 21st century, his 370 catches, 5,265 receiving yards, and 51 touchdown catches are still the most by any 49ers wide receiver since 2000.

In 2018, Owens was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame for all of his career accomplishments. Without those very impressive four years in San Francisco to kick off the 21st century, who knows if his numbers would have been good enough to result in him earning a spot in the Hall of Fame.

Even though his tenure with the team didn’t end on a high note, Owens should is still regarded as one of the best players to ever put on a 49ers red and gold jersey.
