1. Trysten Hill, Defensive Tackle

The Cowboys first-round pick in 2019 was used to acquire wide receiver Amari Cooper from the Oakland Raiders. He was a great fit in their offense and put up 725 yards and six touchdowns in nine games with Dallas.

Knowing what they got in exchange for their top pick, they have to be happy, but that didn’t make sitting out the first round any easier. The front office admitted as much, saying they never want to do that again, but they did feel good about their top pick this season.

With the No. 58 overall selection, Dallas took UCF’s Trysten Hill, who fills a massive need at defensive tackle. So far, he hasn’t been standing out as he enters this game with just one tackle to his name, but at least it went for a loss of yards.

The good news is, despite having just the one tackle, Hill looked more comfortable in his second game. He’s not ready to overtake Maliek Collins, an underrated player by the way, but at least there was progress.

Fans are still reeling over the selection of Taco Charlton in 2017 and that surely has led to them being less patient in this regard as they simply don’t want to see another defensive lineman not live up to expectations — especially considering the number of high-quality safeties that were on the board when Hill was taken.

This week will be big for him and his confidence. Hill needs to continue to show progress or risk spending much of the year on the bench trying to get things figured out.
