3. Olabisi Johnson

One player that stood out in Saturday’s Week 3 win for Minnesota was rookie wide receiver Olabisi Johnson. Johnson, who was selected by the Vikings in the seventh round of the 2019 NFL Draft out of Colorado State, has shown nice flashes of potential throughout the preseason to this point.

Johnson finished the game against Arizona with three catches for 52 yards, with his longest reception coming on a 22-yard catch on third down in the second half. His 52-yard performance was the best out of all Vikings wide receivers in the game. In two appearances so far this preseason, Johnson has tallied a total of five catches for 87 yards and one touchdown, while starting to catch the attention of many Vikings fans.

As a seventh-round pick, Johnson has put together a pretty solid start to the preseason so far for Minnesota, making a case to grab a spot for himself on the final 53-man roster before the regular season begins.

In his career at Colorado State before arriving in Minnesota, Johnson was able to record five 100-yard games throughout his three-year stint in college, with one 200-yard performance in 2016. In 2018, he caught a career-high 54 passes for 796 yards and four touchdowns, ranking second on the team behind teammate Preston Williams.

Johnson was one player that stood out in Saturday’s victory for the Vikings. And if he continues to perform the way he has through three games, we could possibly see him make the final roster cut to land on the wide receiving corps in Minnesota.
