It’s crazy to think of, but a team with as rich of a history as the Green Bay Packers haven’t really had a lot of big-name running backs come through the ranks. They have been around since 1919 and have 13 total NFL Championships — two of which came in the Super Bowl era.

They were so synonymous with winning that the championship trophy handed out after the Super Bowl every year is named after their most famous coach — Vince Lombardi.

Even with all that being the case, the Packers have no running backs who have ever hit 8,500 yards rushing in their career. The current all-time leader is Ahman Green, and he’s in the running for the best running back in their history. Overall, he has 8,322 yards and 54 touchdowns, but he just misses out on the honor due to the insane number of touchdowns run by fullback Jim Taylor.

A former standout at LSU, Taylor joined Green Bay in 1958 and played there for nine seasons. In that span, he had 8,207 yards rushing and 81 touchdowns. He added another 1,756 yards and 10 touchdowns as a receiver.

The five-time Pro Bowler was not only inducted in the Pro Football Hall of Fame but also made the Packers Hall of Fame, while also getting his jersey No. retired by the New Orleans Saints — who he played just one season for at the end of his career.

Of course, that seems to be due more to him being a fan-favorite as he grew up in Louisiana, as he had just 390 yards and two touchdowns in his lone season away from Green Bay.
