3. Baker Mayfield held below 200 passing yards

Cleveland’s second-year quarterback did not start the 2019 season on the right foot. Analysts and media members were piling hype and expectations on the Browns and Mayfield during the offseason, but those have all vanished over the first couple weeks of the season.

More from NFL Spin Zone

After returning to form in Week 4 against the Baltimore Ravens, Mayfield put on one of the worst performances of the year Monday night against the undefeated San Francisco 49ers. The Oklahoma product completed 36.36 percent of his passes for 100 and two interceptions. He finished the game with a 13.4 passer rating. In comparison, Wilson’s worst passer rating this season is 102.6.

The Seahawks are allowing 270.6 passing yards per game, and they rank 26th in the league in pass defense. Seattle’s secondary is marked by youth and expectations but has not proven itself against a Pro Bowl quarterback yet. Luckily, Mayfield isn’t looking like a Pro Bowl quarterback anymore. The young quarterback is leading the league in interceptions thrown with eight and has a horrendous 68.5 passer rating.

The secondary’s toughest test came against Jared Goff last week, and they allowed the turnover-happy Rams quarterback to throw for 395 yards. While the secondary is hardly inspiring, Bradley McDougald and company will be able to contain the struggling Mayfield.
