Dud: The Defensive Line

Although it was a relatively mediocre performance by the Los Angeles Chargers defense, it was the defensive line in particular that failed to contain Titans running back Derrick Henry. Allowing Henry to run for 90 yards and a score, it was their inefficiency in containing him that allowed the Titans to run the clock, giving the Chargers offense little time to get on the field and score.

Over the past three weeks, the Chargers defense has allowed a total of 412 rushing yards and three touchdowns. Whatever the issue may be, the team must regroup and strategize on how to better stop the run.

Stud: Joey Bosa

Despite a collective inability to stop the run, one player who did play exceptionally well in terms of pressuring the quarterback was defensive end Joey Bosa. Finishing with six combined tackles, two sacks and a forced fumble, Tennessee’s offensive line didn’t stand a chance at containing Bosa.

Injuries and generally poor, inconsistent play have plagued the Chargers defense throughout the first seven weeks of the season. However, Bosa has overcome that individually to present himself as the star he’s supposed to be off of the edge.
