New York Giants (2-10) at Philadelphia Eagles (5-7)

Monday, December 9, 8:15PM ET

It’s a bit baffling how relatively bad the Philadelphia Eagles have been in 2019. This is a team two years removed from the Super Bowl that simply can’t win on a consistent basis. Now in a nearly do-or-die situation, they cannot afford to suffer another loss against the New York Giants.

I want to say that shouldn’t be too difficult to avoid in Week 14. And yet, the Eagles are coming off an unexpected defeat at the hands of the Dolphins in Week 13. So even though the Giants have been awful this year and are currently riding an eight-game losing streak, there’s no telling what could happen when these two meet on Monday night.

Still, I’m going to give the Eagles the benefit of the doubt. They’re obviously the more talented of the two teams, and have shown flashes of playoff potential this season. However, it’s been their defense’s inability to stiffen when needed and the offense’s inconsistency that has done them in throughout the 2019 campaign.

With their backs against the wall, the Eagles get it done. They put pressure on Daniel Jones early and often, forcing the rookie into a couple more turnovers. Carson Wentz has a signature game at home, allowing Philadelphia to stay alive in the race for the NFC East title.

Prediction: Eagles win 31-23
