1. Gary Kubiak

The final candidate to replace Stefanski is current Vikings assistant coach Gary Kubiak. Kubiak’s name is one that will probably be the one most people hear often when discussions take place surrounding who the Vikings would look at for their next offensive coordinator.

Kubiak, who has plenty of coaching experience both as an assistant coach and a head coach in the NFL, has had a strong influence on Minnesota’s offensive gameplan and worked very closely with Stefanski in the offensive schemes throughout the course of the 2019 campaign.

The 58-year-old Kubiak just wrapped up his first season with the Vikings this season, serving as the team’s assistant head coach and offensive advisor.

Prior to coming to Minnesota, Kubiak holds a total of 24 years of coaching experience, including 10 years as a head coach in the league.

The veteran coach spent time with the Denver Broncos as both an offensive coordinator and head coach, as well as serving as a head coach of the Houston Texans and later an offensive coordinator for the Baltimore Ravens before landing in Minnesota.

The most intriguing part about Kubiak being elevated to the offensive coordinator position is that he is very familiar to this Vikings team and the addition of him into the open position wouldn’t likely result in too much changing as far as an offensive gameplan for Minnesota.

The other thing that makes Kubiak a strong candidate, if he is interested in jumping into the position, is the fact that he and Vikings head coach Mike Zimmer are close and Minnesota’s head coach could make a push to have Kubiak hired for the offensive coordinator spot.

Among the many names that will get brought up as potential candidates to replace Stefanski as the offensive coordinator of the Vikings, Kubiak and his veteran coaching presence could elevate him past everyone else to land the job for the purple and gold.
