Cleveland Browns: 7-Round 2020 mock draft to build under Stefanski
Speaking of depth issues, the Myles Garrett suspension brought to light just how thin the Browns are in that regard — especially with Olivier Vernon dealing with injuries for much of the year. Thus, a player like Khalid Kareem makes a ton of sense for Cleveland in the fourth round.
The Notre Dame product isn’t a readymade game-wrecker coming off of the edge. However, his elite length and solid play strength off the edge make him a potential force as a rotational rusher, especially if he can get some NFL coaching behind him. For a club that needs depth, pieces built like Kareem are invaluable on Day 3.
The physical potential of David Njoku, a 2017 first-round pick, remains incredibly enticing. If he can put all of it together, he could be an elite weapon that could very much open up this offense. However, injuries and inconsistent play have held him back to this point and he needs help at the position right now.
Harrison Bryant is not a polished blocker, even if he has the right mentality. What he is, though, is a highly experienced pass-catcher from the position, capable of being moved all over the formation and both providing the offense with an option in addition to also possibly pushing Njoku for snaps at tight end.
After landing Denzel Ward in the first round in 2018 and then getting Greedy Williams in Round 2 a year ago, the Browns hope to have their starters at cornerback. However, 2019 proved that this team needs depth at the position and it’s impossible to not be intrigued by what Oklahoma State’s A.J. Green has to offer.
In terms of length, speed and quickness to be a good cover cornerback in the NFL, Green has it all. He has plenty of high-end reps on tape from his time at Stillwater. However, his technique with his hands, in addition to improving his strength, need some work. Even still, getting this talented of a prospect in Round 7 could be huge value for Cleveland.
