4. Deebo Samuel

Considering that he only had four touches on the day, rookie wide receiver Deebo Samuel might not be the first player that comes to mind when it comes to star performers for the 49ers. Having said that, all four of his touches that he got on Sunday against Green Bay ended up being high-impact plays that helped San Francisco maintain complete control of the action.

Samuel remained a factor as a rusher in this game, taking two carries for 43 yards against the Packers, including a massive 32-yard scamper. Furthermore, he was the only Niners pass-catcher with multiple receptions (2) which went for 46 yards. He remains a versatile X-factor in this offense that’s always on the verge of breaking off a big play and keeping defenses on their heels.

3. Jimmy Garoppolo

What? Jimmy Garoppolo a star from the NFC Championship Game? The guy who threw only eight passing attempts against the Packers and had only 77 yards passing on the night? Yes, that Jimmy G is one of the stars of the game and the reasoning is quite simple.

If there’s one thing that was going to sink the 49ers in a battle with the Packers, it was an untimely mistake early on from Garoppolo. He’s a good quarterback but has not proven to be a great one yet and had just one game of postseason experience under his belt coming into this game — and that came in the Divisional Round against the Vikings.

Though his role in the 49ers offense was shockingly minimal, he made enough plays throughout the game to keep the defense honest and maintain control. More importantly, he played within himself and didn’t make any costly mistakes, which is the recipe for success with San Francisco.
