Scouting Report. EDGE. player. 59. Pick Analysis. Iowa. A.J. Epenesa. 21

(via Eagles) Yes, Epenesa tested quite badly at the NFL Combine. Yes, that matters for a player who had questions about his athletic ability. And yet, the Dolphins need someone who can be a consistent contributor off of the edge and add versatility to the defense. The Iowa defensive lineman wins with power and technique, which isn’t totally tested at the Combine. So Epenesa doesn’t fall all that far and the Dolphins trust the film as they take him at No. 21.

Pick Analysis. 22. player. 123. Scouting Report. S. Alabama. Xavier McKinney

(via Bills) Speaking of trusting the film, that’s exactly what the Dallas Cowboys are doing as they trade down to take Xavier McKinney to address their long-standing need at safety. McKinney was a do-it-all defender for the Alabama Crimson Tide and, though he didn’t test well in Indianapolis, the film shows a player who can cover, come down and defend the run and be all over the field for a defense. Dallas needs that type of player and gets him here.

IDL. South Carolina. Javon Kinlaw. 23. 47. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. player

Outside of some feel-good stories — deservedly so, it should be said — we didn’t hear much about Javon Kinlaw at the Combine because he didn’t work out. Even still, the South Carolina product put forth an impressive 2019 season and showed he’s ready to be a dynamic force for an NFL team. The Patriots need to add some playmakers on both sides of the ball and Kinlaw feels like the type of player who could thrive under Belichick.

WR. TCU. Jalen Reagor. 24. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. 15. player

Showing up at about 10 pounds heavier than the weight he played at for TCU, Jalen Reagor didn’t test as well as many people thought he might at the Combine. Having said that, he’s shown the speed, explosiveness and quickness on film that makes you believe he can be a versatile weapon on offense.

For as good as the Saints are at putting up points, Michael Thomas could use some help in the receiving corps with a consistent threat around him. Reagor’s skill-set would complement him quite well and make New Orleans a more dynamic overall unit.
