4. Los Angeles Chargers

Philip Rivers has led the Chargers for quite some time and done it well. In Rivers’ first season as the starter, then in San Diego, he took the team to the playoffs and then did that three years in a row. Rivers has been the face of the powder blues for well over a decade but, as he reaches the tail end of his career and his current contract, the Chargers are set to move on from him.

It was a disappointing 2019 season for Rivers and the Bolts as they finished 5-11 and in last place in the AFC West. Subsequently, some might assume that the team in Los Angeles might not be good because of that performance. However, one look at the roster tells a different story.

On offense, the Chargers boast terrific weapons in the form of Mike Williams and Keenan Allen. Meanwhile, they also have a stout defense that has two of the elite players on that side of the ball. Joey Bosa and Melvin Ingram are two of the best edge pass-rushers in the game while LA also has two terrific defensive backs in cornerback Casey Hayward and safety Derwin James.

Owners of the No. 6 pick in the 2020 NFL Draft, Herbert ending up with the Los Angeles Chargers could very well be one of the best fits for the quarterback prospect. With a defense littered with star-caliber talent and with high-end weapons to work with on offense, Herbert could be put in a good position to thrive, especially if they continue addressing the offensive line, as they did with the recent Trai Turner trade.
