Seattle Seahawks: Ranking top 10 players of the past decade
By Samuel Teets
10. Michael Bennett, DE
Unlike most of the other selections on this list, Seattle did not draft Bennett. Instead, the team signed the undrafted Texas A&M product four years into his career. Bennett officially joined the Seahawks in 2013, just in time to win a Super Bowl with the rising franchise.
After starting 26 of his final 30 appearances with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2011 and 2012, Bennett only started three games in 2013. He worked into the team’s strong rotation and led the Seahawks with 8.5 sacks and 26 quarterback hits. He added another 1.5 sacks during Seattle’s run to the Super Bowl.

Bennett went on to set career-highs with 10 sacks, 30 quarterback hits and 52 tackles in 2015. That year, he also made the first of three consecutive Pro Bowl appearances. However, Seattle traded the aging defensive end to Philadelphia in 2018.
During his five seasons in Seattle, Bennett accumulated 39 sacks and 118 quarterback hits.
9. Max Unger, C
In 2009, the Seahawks used their second-round pick on Unger. After starting all 16 games as a rookie, the future Pro Bowl center only played in one game in 2010 before landing on injured reserve (IR). In 2011, Unger switched from right guard to center full-time, and his career took a turn for the better.
Unger made Pro Bowls in 2012 and 2013. In 2012, the Associated Press selected him as a First-Team All-Pro. However, injuries altered Unger’s career again in 2014. He only appeared in six games, and the Seahawks traded him along with a draft pick for Jimmy Graham in 2015.
Unger retired after the 2018 season and a successful four-year stint in New Orleans.
