Seattle Seahawks: Ranking top 10 players of the past decade
By Samuel Teets
8. Doug Baldwin, WR
An undrafted free agent from Stanford, Doug Baldwin signed with the Seahawks in 2011. The wide receiver spent his entire eight-year career in service to Seattle, amassing the third-most receptions and receiving yards in franchise history.
Baldwin joined with Golden Tate early during Seattle’s Super Bowl runs. However, he became more of a stand-alone receiver once Tate signed with the Lions. Baldwin and Wilson matured together, and the receiver peaked when his quarterback took on a more active role in the offense.
In 2015, Baldwin crossed the 1,000-yard mark for the first time in his career. He also led the NFL with 14 receiving touchdowns. Baldwin went on to make Pro Bowls in 2016 and 2017 before injuries pushed him into retirement.
Baldwin retired with 493 receptions, 6,563 receiving yards and 49 receiving touchdowns.
7. K.J. Wright, OLB
In 2011, the Seahawks used their fourth-round pick on Wright. As a rookie, the Mississippi State product started 12 of his 16 appearances, accumulating 65 tackles and two sacks. His role in Seattle’s defense quickly developed, and, by 2014, Wright was recording over 100 tackles annually.
Wright’s sole Pro Bowl appearance came in 2016 when he set what were then career-highs with four sacks and 126 tackles. However, Seattle used Wright less in the pass rush in subsequent years, and he hasn’t recorded a sack in the previous three seasons.
In 2018, injuries limited Wright to five games, and fans wondered if Seattle would let the aging linebacker walk away in free agency. Instead, the Seahawks re-signed Wright on a short-term deal, which paid off. In 2019, Wright set career-highs with three interceptions, 11 passes defensed and 132 tackles.
Over his nine-year career, Wright has 855 tackles, 11.5 sacks, ten forced fumbles, five interceptions and 44 passes defensed.
