Brandin Cooks trade rumors: 5 Teams that should deal with Rams
Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Speaking of familiarity, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers would present another opportunity for Cooks to reunite with his former quarterback. Cooks would provide a familiar face for Tom Brady, as the two developed a solid rapport during Cooks’ one-year stint in Foxborough. In 2017, Cooks was the Patriots’ No. 1 wideout, catching 65 balls for 1,082 yards and seven touchdowns.
Cooks will be a solid deep threat in Bruce Arians’ pass-heavy scheme. The Buccaneers had the most deep-ball attempts, highest completed air yards, and highest pass attempt distance in the league last year. While some of that can be attributed to Jameis Winston and his gunslinger mentality, the offense should still be focused on creating chunk plays down the field.
While the Buccaneers already have Chris Godwin and Mike Evans in the fold, neither are deep threat specialists. Evans operates more as the big, outside receiver who can make contested catches, while Godwin is the sure-handed, slot presence that runs crisp routes. Cooks would be the third wide receiver in this formation that would take the top off of the defense and force opposing safeties to play back.
Brady probably has only one or two more years left in the NFL, so providing him a wide assortment of weapons should be a priority. Adding Cooks to Tampa Bay’s already impressive arsenal would immediately make the Buccaneers’ offense a juggernaut and virtually unstoppable.
With Los Angeles Rams wideout Brandin Cooks reportedly on the trade block, these five teams should look to acquire the former first-round pick.
