player. 49. Pick Analysis. Linebacker. Clemson. Isaiah Simmons. 7. Scouting Report

Current Pick: No. 30

After spending the two previous seasons watching the playoffs from home, the Green Bay Packers finally bounced back in 2019 during their first year under Matt LaFleur and nearly earned a trip to the Super Bowl before coming up short in the NFC Championship.

Unfortunately, that embarrassing loss to the San Francisco 49ers made it clear the Packers still have numerous areas in need of improvement on both sides of the football, including the linebacker position.

When it comes to the top linebacker from this year’s draft class, Isaiah Simmons has made a strong case for the honors after making the switch from safety during his final season with Clemson.

The Tigers have seen plenty of their former defenders go on to have successful NFL careers, and a player like Simmons joining a defense in Green Bay would put the team in great position to make another deep run in the playoffs next season.

As much praise as the Packers’ offense receives thanks to Aaron Rodgers, the defense will need to step up their game in 2020 when seeing how competitive the NFC North is expected to be.

By adding Simmons to the mix, Green Bay’s odds of repeating as division champions would only increase.
