Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. 6. player. Defensive End. Ohio State. Chase Young. 31

Current Pick: No. 4

As previously mentioned, there’s a good chance that Young will be well off the board by the time the New York Giants are on the clock at No. 4 since the Ohio State product is arguably the best defender from this year’s draft class, and the numbers will back this claim up.

Unless the Giants are willing to make some sort of trade to move up a pick or two, any shot at landing Young can be thrown out the window since the teams ahead of them recognize what kind of impact he can make right away as a rookie.

Since the chances of New York convincing their rivals in Washington agreeing to a trade to move up in the first round seems laughable just to think about, the best chance for the Giants could come at No. 3 with the Detroit Lions.

The fact that Young recorded 27 sacks in 25 games during his final two seasons at Ohio State is just one of many reasons why any team would be lucky to land him in the upcoming draft.

Even though the Giants have been painful to watch at times over the last few years, the team is heading in the right direction on the offensive side of the football with young stars on the rise in Saquon Barkley and Daniel Jones.

But if New York’s defense were to land another young star with potential in Young, maybe the Giants would be able to make a surprise leap in 2020 as a playoff contender in the NFC.
