2020 NFL Mock Draft: Unexpected first-round pick for each team
By Dan Parzych
Matthew Stafford has been considered one of the toughest quarterbacks in the NFL throughout his career, but all good things must come to an end at some point.
Due to only winning three games in 2019, the Detroit Lions currently hold the No. 3 pick in the upcoming draft, and while the chances of them moving on from Stafford at this point seem slim, that could easily change if Joe Burrow happens to be available.
Following an incredible 2019 season in which he helped lead LSU to a championship, Burrow is expected to be the first quarterback selected in this year’s draft, and will be facing all sorts of high pressure to succeed right away.
Even though Stafford is currently on the team at the moment, there have been some rumors this offseason over the possibility of the Lions trying to get the former No. 1 pick off their hands since Detroit could be overdue for a fresh start under center.
As previously mentioned, Stafford has established a reputation for being one of the league’s toughest quarterbacks over the years, but also it is somewhat frustrating that he will be entering 2020 still in search of that first career playoff win.
Detroit would obviously need some help from the Cincinnati Bengals and Washington Redskins passing on Burrow to make this scenario a possibility, but crazier things have taken place in the NFL over the years during draft time.
