Round 4: Akeem Davis-Gaither, Cincinnati Bengals (No. 107)

Heading into the 2020 NFL Draft, the biggest glaring weakness for the Cincinnati Bengals was at linebacker. The Bengals drafted Logan Wilson out of Wyoming in the third round to help them but he isn’t even the best linebacker heading to Cincinnati.

To start the fourth round, the Bengals got a huge steal with the selection of Akeem Davis-Gaither. Davis-Gaither has all the traits of a modern-day linebacker in the NFL. My favorite trait the Appalachian State product possesses is his coverage ability. Davis-Gaither has very smooth hips and has great lateral quickness that allows him to move around the field with ease

Davis-Gaither isn’t just a coverage player as he can offer some skills in pass rushing. While at Appalachian State, Davis-Gaither was utilized as an edge rusher often and he looked very skilled at doing it and torched some offensive tackles.

This pick is also a great value pick for the Bengals. Realistically, with how good Davis-Gaither is, he could have been a second-round selection by a team. His coverage and blitz skills should have warranted a second-round selection by some team in the NFL. Instead, the Bengals get a steal in Davis Gaither.

Davis-Gaither will be a great pick up for the Bengals and will do many different things for them. He will be a blitz weapon that the Bengals will love to use but he will also be a mismatch eraser with his coverage skills as well.

Honorable Mentions: Darnay Holmes, Giants (No. 110) | Amik Robertson, Raiders (No. 139)
