The AFC West should be the most entertaining division this coming year. The Kansas City Chiefs are fresh off of a Super Bowl victory while the other three teams all loaded up in free agency and the draft. Kansas City’s biggest challenge to their division throne comes from Drew Lock and the new-look Broncos.

Denver drafted Lock in the second round of the 2019 NFL Draft. The Missouri product sat behind Brandon Allen and Joe Flacco on injured reserve before starting the five final games of the season. During that final stretch, Lock led Denver to a 4-1 record, including a win over the Houston Texans.

Lock finished his rookie season with 1,020 yards, seven touchdowns, and three interceptions. The small sample size doesn’t help his case, but Lock performed well during his limited snaps. His only bad game came against the Chiefs in snowy Kansas City. Otherwise, Lock kept his cool and brought Denver its most successful stretch of the season.

The Broncos took care of their young quarterback this offseason. The team signed offensive lineman Graham Glasgow and running back Melvin Gordon in free agency. Denver also added wide receivers KJ Hamler and Jerry Judy in the draft. With the defense also adding some new faces, Denver could fight some exciting battles against the Chiefs in 2020.
