No. 4 NFL Offensive ROTY candidate: Devin Duvernay, WR, Ravens

Several receivers will get the well-deserved hype as possible candidates. Few people will have Devin Duvernay’s name on their list but they should. For starters, unless you’re DeAndre Hopkins, a wide receiver is only as good as his quarterback. Well, with Duvernay, he has a fantastic quarterback in the reigning 2019 NFL MVP, Lamar Jackson.

The Ravens are a run-heavy team that relies on speed from their wide receivers, especially off play-action — Duvernay has it. At the 2020 NFL Combine, the former Texas Longhorns ran a 4.39-second 40-yard dash proving he’s a speed demon but that’s not his best trait.

Despite being able to blow the top of the defensive, Duvernay’s best trait is his hands. He catches everything thanks to his excellent ball skills, especially in traffic.

He’s an ideal slot guy who’ll likely see volume targets because he can be trusted. The Ravens will use him to make plays after the catch. Sure, he can win on deep passes but he’ll get in the Rookie of the Year conversation with his catch-and-run plays.

The 5-10, 200-pound receiver has running back’s build and nasty intentions after the catch. Don’t be surprised if he ends the season with 75-80 receptions, over 1,000 yards and somewhere north of eight touchdowns.
