The Baltimore Ravens should rent: Everson Griffen, DE

While he is by far the most expensive of the three possible rentals listed here, former Minnesota Vikings pass-rusher Everson Griffen would give the Baltimore Ravens the elite edge rusher they’ve needed. Apart from being 33 years old, the 6-3, 273-pound defender is still producing at a high level and has the frame to play with his hands in the dirt or on the edge.

In 2019, Griffen started 15 games for the Vikings where he accumulated 41 total tackles, 11 tackles for loss, 8.0 sacks, 24 QB-hits, 35 pressures, 13 hurries, and even an interception. To cap off an impressive season, he made an appearance at the Pro Bowl for the fourth time in his career.

This signing would be considered as a high-risk high-reward deal that would use up the majority of the Ravens’ 2020 cap space but provide them with an elite pass-rusher in return.

Baltimore led the NFL last season with 329 blitzes, with the defense blitzing on 54.9 percent of all play calls. Despite the aggressiveness, the defense finished No. 30 in the league with quarterback hurries, tallying only 44 with a hurry percentage of 7.3 percent on plays.

Griffin will make an immediate impact in these categories as he is a guided-missile when it comes to seeking out quarterbacks. If there is any signing that the Ravens should prioritize headed into 2020, it’s Everson Griffin.
