4. Oklahoma State Cowboys

There was a distinct change in the Oklahoma State offense last season due to the personnel on that side of the ball. Head coach Mike Gundy has traditionally run a high-octane spread offense that passes at will. But with a young quarterback in Spencer Sanders and a star running back, Chuba Hubbard, the Cowboys relied more heavily on the run.

Hubbard returning to Stillwater means the rushing attack will remain a big part of what they do. Having said that, Oklahoma State is heavily banking on Sanders to make a big leap forward in the 2020 season for the Pokes to compete in the Big 12. If they could land Fields, that would change everything.

As a reliable quarterback in Gundy’s offense, there’s no question that Fields would put up ridiculous numbers for the Cowboys. Moreover, he could potentially take a talented roster to the top of the Big 12 standings. And in terms of his 2021 draft stock, that’s only going to make him look better to some NFL teams.

3. Tennessee Volunteers

To some, this might seem like a strange pick. For the past decade or so, the Tennessee Volunteers have been trying and failing to reclaim their former glory as a powerhouse in the SEC. Head coach Jeremy Pruitt, however, now finally has them on the right track.

With one of the best offensive lines in the country and some talented skill position players along with a promising defense, Tennessee has sleeper potential already. The big question for the Vols is Jarrett Guarantano at quarterback. He’s been inconsistent and his top-end potential simply isn’t on the level it needs to be for Tennessee to truly compete at the highest level.

Subsequently, Justin Fields would dramatically change the team’s situation. They’d become a legitimate threat to win the SEC this season and have virtually every box checked. As for the quarterback himself, being the guy to bring Tennessee back to the national forefront would be a narrative impossible to ignore.
