An FCS star goes ahead of two Alabama standouts

Trey Lance. 9. 28. Pick Analysis. North Dakota State. player. Scouting Report. QB

If the Raiders are picking in the top 10 of the 2021 NFL Draft, that means that Derek Carr (or Marcus Mariota) isn’t the guy at quarterback. Thus, they are in position to take Trey Lance and they do. The NDSU star was phenomenal as a redshirt freshman last year and showcased an NFL arm and great athleticism for the position. Jon Gruden would love to get his hands on Lance and make him the franchise guy.

Patrick Surtain II. player. 13. Scouting Report. CB. Alabama. 10. Pick Analysis

Could the Chargers use a tackle for the long haul? Yes. Are all of the tackles outside of Sewell available? Yes. At some point, though, you have to find the best vaue and that’s Patrick Surtain II — and he just so happens to help an area of need. LA has talent at corner but health and age are concerns. Surtain was built in a lab to play the position and should be a long-term asset for the defense.

Alex Leatherwood. player. 45. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. OT. Alabama. 11

For all of the people thinking that the Broncos are about to break out in the 2020 season, the offensive line could be a huge reason that doesn’t happen. Their tackle situation is awful, which is why they land Alex Leatherwood at No. 11. At Alabama, Leatherwood has played all over the line and thrived. He needs some further development with consistent footwork but he should be a valuable addition in Denver.

Scouting Report. Creed Humphrey. player. 32. Pick Analysis. IOL. Oklahoma. 12

There is little reason to fault what the Cardinals have done since the arrival of Kliff Kingsbury as the head coach as Kyler Murray looked like a stud and things have just been trending up. The offensive line, however, needs to be fixed and they should start on the interior. Creed Humphrey is a proven stud at his spot and should be a Day 1 starter in Arizona or wherever else he lands.
