New Orleans Saints: 5 Bold predictions for the 2020 season
4. Alvin Kamara will lose his starting job
Moving ahead to prediction number two, this one is definitely bold. I predict that Alvin Kamara will lose his starting job with the Saints. This has already been discussed a lot and probably wouldn’t be very surprising.
Heading into the 2020 season and a contract year, it wouldn’t be smart for Kamara to make any hasty moves. With him already missing training camp though, things are looking a little rocky. Depending on how much the Saints need him, we could end up seeing him running the bench and eventually, being moved elsewhere.

Ultimately, the Saints have the talent behind him to make up for his loss. The Saints have Latavius Murray, who filled in for Kamara last year. They also acquired Ty Montgomery during the offseason and they resigned Dwayne Washington.
Overall, it’s going to come down to if Kamara feels he’s being treated fairly and what the Saints are willing to do to give him that security. Right now, it feels like it could be either way but we could see Kamara sitting on the bench more than we might imagine.
3. New Orleans Saints defense holds teams under 20 points per game
New Orleans has built a quality defense and that will show this year as they won’t allow teams to score more than 20 points per game. The Saints’ defense is incredibly hyped and rightfully so as they put on a stellar performance amidst the loss of Brees. Heading into the 2020 season, I look for them to double down and not allow more than 20 points a game.
While teams are going to test them, the Saints have the manpower to not allow teams to score as much and shut them down especially in high-pressure situations. With guys like Cameron Jordan, Malcolm Jenkins, Marshon Lattimore and Marcus Davenport, they shouldn’t have a problem.
All they have to do is make sure to keep the small mistakes to a minimum. While it might seem like a lofty goal, the Saints defense has the talent and ability so it should be a piece of cake if they can work together.
