NFL Power Rankings, Week 1: Titans ink Clowney, Chiefs remain clear favorites
Fantasy football managers should take notice of the New York Giants in the 2020 season for a number of reasons. For one, the guys on this roster who man this side of the ball have legit talent. Saquon Barkley is still a freakish specimen, Daniel Jones showed really promising flashes in his rookie season one year ago, Evan Engram can be a top-tier tight end if he can stay on the field and the wide receiver group may not have a superstar but it’s got several quality players in the mix.
But perhaps the biggest reason that fantasy managers should take notice of the offense is that the unit will have to put up big numbers to win games on account of the defense.
Under Tom Coughlin with Eli Manning at quarterback in the 2000s and early 2010s, the Giants thrived off of an elite defense. That won’t be the case this year. Even with the recent addition of Logan Ryan, the G-Men might have the worst defense in the league or they’re at least in the conversation. There are pieces but a final product is not remotely present at this point.
When you take that into account with the fact that the offensive line is still not a finished product either, the Giants don’t have a terribly high ceiling coming into the year. They should compete and be part of some fun showdown but the losses will well outnumber the victories come December.
