Dallas Cowboys Week 2 Stud: Dak Prescott, QB

This game was going poorly for Dallas and it could have ended that way had they not had a quarterback who refuses to give up. After falling behind by three scores, Prescott showed his competitiveness as he led Dallas to 10 points just before the half. The first score came after an 11-play, 75-yard drive that ended with an Ezekiel Elliott touchdown.

Prescott then led them on back-to-back touchdown drives in the third quarter, both of which ended with him crossing the goal line. The first was a two-yard rush on a zone read where he faked to Zeke and then ran it in untouched. His second was a quarterback sneak on third-and-goal, which came after he had to be taken off the field for a couple of plays following a rough shot to his head. For good measure, he also threw a touchdown to Dalton Schultz and ran in one more just after the two-minute warning.

Then after a miraculous onside recovery, Prescott calmly hit CeeDee Lamb to put them in scoring range. He willed the team to victory with 450 yards passing, 18 rushing and four total touchdowns. It’s past time to pay the man and his doubters are running out of ammo.

Dallas Cowboys Week 2 Dud: Mike McCarthy

There are plenty of jokes out there right now when it comes to Mike McCarthy and analytics. After his firing in Green Bay, he spent the offseason learning all about the new trend in the NFL and he says he’s ready to rely heavily on the use of analytics. However, he seems to just be making it up as he goes.

McCarthy has had three questionable fourth-down attempts in the past two games. Starting with the odd decision not to go for a game-tying field goal in Week 1, he added the two fake punts this week. Then, he added more confusion to the mix as he went for a two-point conversion after making the score 39-30, which nearly made a comeback impossible.

In the end, the Cowboys pulled off an improbable win but McCarthy did a few things that made it harder than it should have been.
