2020 NFL picks, score predictions for Week 3
San Francisco 49ers (1-1) at New York Giants (0-2)
Sunday, September 27, 1PM ET
Man, things are not looking good for the New York Giants right now. I was holding out hope they could get back on track in Week 2 against the Chicago Bears, but that didn’t work out. And now they will likely be without Saquon Barkley for the remainder of the 2020 campaign.
I’m still confident Daniel Jones will emerge as a capable starting quarterback someday, but it won’t be this upcoming Sunday — there are just too many things going against the Giants in this one. That’s why I have to give the edge to the San Francisco 49ers as we move into Week 3.
Even with the 49ers’ own injury uncertainties, they still look the much more complete club at this point. It’s unclear what the outlook is for Jimmy Garoppolo, Raheem Mostert and Nick Bosa, but San Francisco has enough talent elsewhere to make up the potential loss of those three. Nick Mullens managed when Garoppolo got hurt, and the 49ers have plenty of capable running backs.
The 49ers’ long-term outlook took a hit with those Week 2 injuries. With that said, they should able to string at least two wins together by taking down the Giants on the road.
Prediction: 49ers win 23-17
