NFL Power Rankings, Week 8: Packers bounce back, Seahawks stumble
By Randy Gurzi
The Indianapolis Colts nearly headed into a Week 7 bye with a lot of questions. They were 3-1 before a Week 5 loss to the Cleveland Browns moved them to 3-2 on the season. That’s not the worst record by any means, but they then nearly fell to the Cincinnati Bengals at home in the game that followed.
Joe Burrow and the Bengals jumped out to a 21-0 lead in the second quarter and they seemed to have this one under control. Thankfully for Colts, quarterback Philip Rivers got them back into the game with a couple of touchdown passes — as well as a Trey Burton touchdown run — before the half.
They finally took the lead in the fourth quarter when Rivers hit Jack Doyle and then Rodrigo Blankenship hit a field goal to make it a four-point lead which kept Cincinnati from being able to try for a game-winning field goal at the end.
Now at 4-2, the Colts have to feel good about themselves but they were pretty close to being 3-3 and reeling from a two-game losing streak. Now, they have a little extra time to prepare for their game against the Detroit Lions but the real test comes in the stretch that follows that.
Indy will have to play the Ravens, Titans, Packers, and Titans again in a four-game stretch that could help decide their season.
