60. . . Previous: 24th. Minnesota Vikings. 26. team

It seems as though the Minnesota Vikings are moving on from this season as their 1-5 start has led to them making an interesting, and unexpected move. During their bye week, Minnesota traded pass-rusher Yannick Ngakoue to the Baltimore Ravens for a third-round pick in 2021 and a conditional fifth-round pick in 2022.

If that seems like very little for a star edge rusher, it’s because it is. In fact, Minnesota just paid more than that for his services back in August — as highlighted by Jamison Hensley of ESPN.

"“The Vikings acquired Ngakoue on Aug. 30 by trading a 2021 second-round pick and 2022 conditional fifth-round pick to the Jaguars. Ngakoue, who had been given the franchise tag by the Jaguars in the offseason, agreed to a one-year, $12 million deal with the Vikings — instead of his franchise tender of $17.8 million — to complete the trade.” — Hensley, ESPN"

Of course, anyone who follows Minnestoa understood this had the potential of being a one-year rental for the Vikings. They felt they were close to making a run at the title and adding Ngakoue across from Danielle Hunter seemed to be the perfect combination to slow down opposing quarterbacks.

Unfortunately, Hunter had to have surgery on a herniated disk in his neck and will not play at all this season. Minnesota decided with their poor start to get what they could for Ngakoue and move on. Now, it seems as though they really won’t be able to get out of this funk that they’re in.
