The Detroit Lions headed into this weekend with a record of 3-4 and they could have made some progress toward becoming a playoff contender had they been able to score a win over the Minnesota Vikings. And at the start of this game, Minnesota had the inferior record at 2-5.

Detroit had also been turning this season around as they had two wins in their past three games — although their last outing was rough as the Indianapolis Colts dropped 41 on them in an easy win. As for this one, it was another horrible defeat for the Lions as the Vikings made it look easy.

Minnesota dominated through the air and the ground as Kirk Cousins hit Irv Smith for a couple of touchdowns and Dalvin Cook had multiple scores on the day as well. What was worse than that was the way the offense played.

Matthew Stafford threw a couple of ugly picks, including one in the end zone to Eric Kendricks. He also suffered a concussion and had to sit and watch as Chase Daniel also came out throwing to the wrong team. It was a frustrating way to end the week after missing practice leading to the game as he was on the COVID-19 reserve list.

Detroit is now 3-5 and their inconsistency is a major issue for them.
