2020 NFL Power Rankings, Week 10: Bucs crash and burn, Bills turn heads
By Randy Gurzi
Since firing Bill O’Brien, the Houston Texans have been a better team. It doesn’t mean they’re good yet, but they have been better. The main difference is, it seems the players are more confident in their chances each week and even when they gave up a huge play early on Sunday, they stayed calm and in control.
Facing the Jacksonville Jaguars, who had to start rookie jake Lutton, the Texans defense gave up a 73-yard touchdown pass to wideout D.J. Chark. They answered quickly with Brandin Cools going for 57-yards on their second play from scrimmage. The deep ball was there again later with Will Fuller scoring from 77-yards out in the third quarter, which stretched the lead for Dallas to 27-16.
From there, the Texans were just trying to hold off the Jaguars. It got a little dicey as Luton ran in a touchdown from 13-yards out with a minute and a half to go, which made it 27-25. The Jags went for two, but it was unsuccessful and with no timeouts in their pocket, Houston was able to run the clock out.
There’s still a lot of talent on this team so it should be an enticing head coaching job next season. Right now, it’s been all about trying to build their confidence up.
