41. Best NFL Player Born in South Dakota – Adam Vinatieri

When it comes to the most clutch kickers of all-time, it’s hard to think about someone other than Adam Vinatieri. He’s come through in the clutch more than any other kicker that not only secured much-needed wins but actual Super Bowl championships thanks to his leg.

He’s the only kicker in NFL history with four championship rings in his collection and a knack for scoring game-winning field goals. South Dakota produced a player that once he calls it quits, might very well be considered the best kicker to have ever played in the NFL.

Vinatieri continued to play well until his very last season in 2019 before officially retiring. Age was nothing more than a number to this future Pro Football Hall of Famer. It goes to show that even kickers can enjoy some major success throughout longer than usual careers.

Career Accomplishments

  • South Dakota State University’s all-time leading scorer with 185 career points
  • Owns the NFL record for most points scored at 2,673
  • Ranks second in all-time list for playing in the most postseason games by a kicker at 32
