Best NFL player born in each of the 50 states
45. Best NFL Player Born in Vermont – Steve Wisniewski
Offensive guard Steve Wisniewski was pivotal to the success of the Oakland Raiders and their offensive system for over a decade in the ’90s. Vermont’s very own “The Wiz” was one of the top offensive guards in the NFL thanks to his size and ability to not only protect his quarterback but also create gaps to establish the run.
He spent his entire 13 years with the Raiders and solidified himself as a high-quality caliber athlete by consistently heading to the Pro Bowl. He spent many years after his playing days helping the Raiders as an assistant offensive line coach and later on a team ambassador since well, Raider Nation flows through his veins.
Wisniewski loves the fans and he’ll always be remembered as a true anchor on the Raiders’ offensive line that to do this day, hasn’t truly been replicated yet on the team. It goes to show that when you have an offensive lineman of his caliber, winning those battles in the trenches becomes much easier.
