42. Best NFL Player Born in Tennessee – Jason Witten

When it comes to elite tight ends, it’s usually said that Jason Witten’s name is mentioned in these kinds of sports conversations. Hailing from Tennessee, Witten continues to make history as he’s still going strong even after 17 years of playing in the NFL.

So far, Witten is second in NFL history with over 1,200 career receptions and receiving yards at over 13,000. Any single time his team needed a clutch third-down conversion, one better believe that football is going in the direction of Witten.

Since he’s still actively playing with the Las Vegas Raiders, he’s only going to add even more to his final career totals. Witten will go down in NFL history as one of the best tight ends to ever play the game as he’s second in almost every major category for the positional group behind the legendary Tony Gonzalez.

Career Accomplishments

  • Owns the NFL record for most receptions in a single game as a tight end with 18
  • Currently owns the Cowboys’ franchise for career receptions at 1,215
  • Set NFL record for the fastest tight end to make 600 receptions in his 125th game
