Kyle Trask, QB, Florida – Best 2021 NFL Draft Fit: New England Patriots

After losing the GOAT at quarterback, the Patriots signed 2015 NFL MVP, Cam Newton. The former Panthers quarterback only signed a one-year deal making him a free agent in 2021. With the lack of success, his reign as Patriots quarterback could be one and done. Drafting Florida’s Kyle Trask would make so much sense.

After an impressive 2019 season, Trask followed up with a better 2020 season. Through seven games, Trask showed how accurate he is completing 70.7 percent of his passes. Additionally, he has 31 touchdowns with just three interceptions, proving he can take care of the ball.

In Florida’s offense, Trask played from under center, in the pistol, and from the shotgun formation. He has good velocity, and he can push the ball down the field. Trask has disciplined eyes with the ability to look off defenders. Although he’s not a runner, his 6-5, 240-pound frame makes him tough to bring down when running RPOs.

Trash has all the tools plus the upside to succeed in Josh McDaniels offense. The Pats could opt to sign a veteran quarterback to mentor Trask until he’s ready. Or, they could throw him in the fire early; he has the accuracy, arm strength and athleticism to find success as a rookie.
