This season is getting away from the Arizona Cardinals in a hurry. One month ago, they were 5-2 and on the heels of a three-game winning streak. That was capped off with a 37-34 win over the Seattle Seahawks and it announced them as contenders in the NFC West. Since then, they have lost three of four games including their rematch against Seattle in Week 11 and a last-second loss to the New England Patriots on Sunday.

Arizona headed to Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts, and struggled to get their passing game going. Former No. 1 overall pick  Kyler Murray had just 170 yards passing and a costly pick that led to seven points. Running back Kenyan Drake did add two touchdowns but it wasn’t enough to lead them to a win, even though their defense played well against Cam Newton.

The Cards held him to 84 yards passing and forced two picks but when they had a chance to take a lead late in the 17-17 game, kicker Zane Gonzalez missed wide right on a 45-yard try. On the ensuing drive, New England wasted the entire clock before Nick Folk hit from 50-yards out for the win.

Now at 6-5, Arizona is in danger of falling too far behind. They have a huge game against the Rams next week, which could help decide whether or not they can make a run at the postseason.
