NFL Power Rankings, Week 14: Patriots keep rising, Eagles near rock-bottom
By Randy Gurzi
Following a hot start to the season, the Chicago Bears are in a free fall. They were 3-0 and then after suffering their first loss in Week against the Colts, they scored two more wins and were 5-1. The problem is, no one believed in them since their quarterback play was so bad.
Mitch Trubisky proved again he’s not the guy, so they handed things off to Nick Foles. While the former Super Bowl winner bead Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, he hasn’t done much else. He was then injured and the Bears had to turn back to Trubisky, who has been as bad as ever.
On Sunday, he actually played well as he was 26-of-34 for 267 yards and a touchdown — although he did have a costly fumble late that set the Lions up for what proved to be the game-winning touchdown. That capped a late comeback from a 10-point deficit for the Lions and it reminded us that even when Trubisky exceeds expectations, he’s still a liability.
Now at 5-7, the Bears are in the midst of a six-game losing streak and there’s starting to be some chatter about the job security of head coach Matt Nagy. He once looked to be a promising young coach in the NFL, but now could be in his final stretch.
