Week 14 DraftKings NFL Values: Wide Receivers

Premium Tier ($7,000 and up): Davante Adams (GB at DET, $9,300) draws a Detroit Lions defense that is the league’s second-worst at shutting down opposing fantasy wide receivers this season. This is not a drill…you know what to do.

We’ll never forget the historic Week 12 performance by Tyreek Hill (KC at MIA, $8,500), but if we expect to see a performance anywhere close to it in Week 14, it will come from DK Metcalf (SEA vs. NYJ, $8,400). We remember the late, great Thomas “Tiny” Lister, Jr. and shudder to think of how Metcalf will similarly bully a Jets defense ranked 25th in shutting down opposing wide receivers in recent weeks.

Keenan Allen (LAC vs. ATL, $7,700) is always a great DraftKings play, especially against a Falcons secondary that has been exposed throughout the season. We also love DeAndre Hopkins (ARI at NYG, $7,600) anytime, especially at this price.

Justin Jefferson (MIN at TB, $7,400) has shined against inferior competition in his rookie season; he draws a Tampa Bay Buccaneers defense that has allowed 7.5 more points per game to wide receivers than any other team in the NFL. We like him even more than A.J. Brown (TEN at JAX, $7,300), a supremely talented player with a marvelous matchup, which is quite an endorsement if we do say so ourselves.

After watching Darius Slay meet his match in the form of DK Metcalf and Davante Adams in back-to-back weeks, we’d be remiss for not recommending Michael Thomas (NO at PHI, $7,100) this time around. We’re also very high on Adam Thielen (MIN at TB, $7,000); we prefer Jefferson’s ceiling, but respect Theilen’s very high floor.

Mid-Tier Values ($6,000 to $6,900): We’d rather load our lineup with the studs above, but we certainly can’t ignore the values in this tier. Among those we endorse are Allen Robinson II (CHI at HOU, $6,800), Amari Cooper (DAL at CIN, $6,500), Chris Godwin (TB vs. MIN, $6,300), and DeVante Parker (MIA vs. KC, $6,100).

More than any of these smart plays, we recommend Robby Anderson (CAR vs. DEN, $6,200), who enjoys a favorable matchup against a Denver Broncos defense that ranks 27th in fantasy points per game allowed to wide receivers since the start of Week 10. Anderson will also absorb many of the targets usually reserved for DJ Moore, who’s out this week (COVID).

Value Tier ($5,000 to $5,900): We hate chasing points, but we also can’t ignore a renaissance personified in Corey Davis (TEN at JAX, $5,700), who serves as proof that 2020 is indeed kind to some folks. We’re also high on Brandon Aiyuk (SF vs WAS, $5,400), who is criminally underpriced:

Curtis Samuel (CAR vs. DEN, $5,200) should see an expanded role with both Christian McCaffrey and D.J. Moore out this week, and we see that T.Y. Hilton (IND at LV, $5,100) has awakened from his season-long slumber with back-to-back games with 18 or more fantasy points in DraftKings. We’re also keeping tabs on the health of Allen Lazard (GB at DET, $5,000) and Keke Coutee (HOU at CHI, $5,000); the latter should see a ton of targets against a defense that ranks 30th in shutting down opposing fantasy wide receivers.

Bargain Bin: We know he’s catching passes from someone other than Joe Burrow, but didn’t last week’s impressive long touchdown catch-and-run remind us that Tyler Boyd (CIN vs. DAL, $4,900) already proved he was quarterback-proof last season? With Tee Higgins listed as questionable with a hamstring, we expect Boyd to pick up where he left off last week before being inexplicably ejected.

Other low priced options include Henry Ruggs (LV vs. IND, $4,600), Russell Gage (ATL at LAC, $4,500), Tim Patrick (DEN at CAR, $4,200), Breshad Perriman (NYJ at SEA, $3,900), and Chad Hansen (HOU at CHI, $3,900). Those who need to go even cheaper can check out Collin Johnson (JAX vs. TEN, $3,600), K.J. Hamler (DEN at CAR, $3,000), and Braxton Berrios (NYJ at SEA, $3,000).

Best Buy: As much as we love Anderson, Aiyuk, Boyd, and others this week, we’re tilting towards Justin Jefferson. The rookie keeps exceeding our expectations, a mistake we’re not making again in Week 14.
