Miami Dolphins: 6 Perfect fits in the 2021 NFL Draft
Miami Dolphins perfect draft fit No. 1: Tedarrell Slaton, DT, Florida
The Dolphins defensive does a great job getting after the quarterback. Flores cooks up exotic schemes and different fronts to create pressure. The defensive line has different contributors, led by Christian Wilkins. For the most part, the Fins use an odd front and the missing component is raw power. Miami needs someone who can set the tone against the run.
Despite their impressive defense, one glaring weakness was their inability to stop the run. Opponents averaged 4.5 yards per carry and 116 yards per game. For the Dolphins to take the next step defensively, they need to add beef. Former Florida Gator Tedarrell Slaton is the perfect fit.
Slaton is the ideal nose tackle; he’s a massive 6-5, 360-pound mammoth of a man. However, his weight is evenly distributed, giving off a well-built, sturdy appearance. As expected, he displays excellent power at the point of attack. Interior linemen have a difficult time double-teaming him. With an effective bull rush, he clogs the middle as a run-stuffing 0-technique.
The former Gator doesn’t add much value on passing downs. Still, he’ll keep the linebackers clean. Jerome Baker will greatly benefit from a guy to help make his path to the ball carrier easier.
