Super Bowl bold prediction No. 4: Tom Brady throws for 400+ yards

It may shock NFL fans to learn that there have only been three games in which a quarterback has thrown for at least 400 yards. However, it wouldn’t shock anyone to learn that Tom Brady has done it twice in his illustrious career, including the record-setting 505 yards he threw for in Super Bowl LII in losing to the Eagles.

While that may be true, we haven’t necessarily seen the air-it-out version of Brady all that much in Tampa. Not only did he not throw for more than 400 yards at any point this season, the all-world quarterback only threw for more than 300 yards eight times in 19 games.

That changes on Sunday, though. Knowing he’s going to have to go through the air to keep up with the Chiefs, Brady will toss it all over the yard and will end up with his third 400-yard passing game in Super Bowl history.

Super Bowl bold prediction No. 3: Patrick Mahomes also throws for 400+ yards

Perhaps even more surprising than there being only three 400-yard passing games in the history of the Big Game might be that Patrick Mahomes has not necessarily put up ridiculous yardage numbers in his young playoff career.

In seven playoff games to this point, Mahomes’ career-high for passing yards is just 325, which came last week against Buffalo. That was also only the second time in his career that he’s thrown for 300 or more yards — even if he does have 17 passing touchdowns to only two interceptions in his playoff career.

But that too will change in the matchup against the Bucs. In a likely shootout, Mahomes isn’t going to be able to come out strong and then hit cruise control. Instead, the Chiefs superstar will be letting it fly for 60 minutes and the result will be a 400-yard performance that matches Brady’s.
