Buffalo Bills perfect 2021 NFL Draft fit No. 1: Adetokunbo Ogundeji, EDGE, Notre Dame

At this point in the draft getting a guy with traits allows the Bills to develop a potential starter. The Bills have Jerry Hughes. With a contract that isn’t cap-friendly, they’ll likely add a year for cap relief and give the edge rusher some security. He’s not a dominant pass rusher but he’s solid and the leader of the defense.

Moving Huges to the left side in favor of Mario Addison didn’t warrant the results anyone expected. Addison didn’t live up to expectations, with one of his worst seasons as a starter.

Sure, the Bills could look toward free agency for help. But if they take a tackle early, it could help the edge rushers take a step forward. Neverthwlwaa, they must get younger with Addison and Huges getting older. AJ Epenesa was a second-round pick and came on strong toward the end of the season.

Brining in a developmental pass rusher makes sense for the Bills. A player like Adetokunbo Ogundeji makes sense. The 6-4, 270-pound edge defender came on strong in his final season. He managed six sacks showing a solid get-off. He has good athleticism and long arms with bendy hips. The Bills could use him as a situational pass rusher as a rookie and second-year player.
