CB. South Carolina. Jaycee Horn. 10. player. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. 123

There are a couple of ways the Dallas Cowboys can go here since they have quite a few holes on their roster. They need help on the offensive line after suffering through a season full of injuries and can use an influx of talent on the defensive line.

They did start to see some progress from defensive tackle Neville Gallimore and defensive end Randy Gregory last season, but there’s no guarantee those two will be the long-term answers and even if they do continue to develop, Dallas needs more depth. There’s also the ever-present need at safety, but at this point, it seems as though the Jones family is never going to spend legit resources on that spot.

Having said all that, the biggest need in Dallas is at cornerback. They could be losing Chidobe Awuzie in free agency — a player who has been misused by this staff and deserves a fresh start — which leaves them with Trevon Diggs and Anthony Brown as the top two options. Diggs showed flashes as a rookie and could be one starter but Brown is better suited in a slot corner role and struggles at times with his durability.

For that reason, Dallas lands another cornerback here who they believe can be a long-term starter in Jaycee Horn from South Carolina. Horn is the exact type of player the Cowboys need in their secondary. He’s tall, physical, and a strong tackler. But most importantly, he has extreme confidence which is a must for this position.

Horn broke out this past season for the Gamecocks and did enough to justify his spot in the top of the 2021 NFL Draft. He ended up sitting out following the dismissal of head coach Will Muschamp but by then, he had proven all he needed and was ready to start prepping for the NFL.

In Dallas, he should be a day one starter across from Diggs, and with Brown in the slot, the secondary would look much better. Hey, if they ever started to care about the safety position, they might even be in danger of being competent.
