2021 NFL Mock Draft: Zach Wilson rises to Jets at No. 2 in 3-round projection
By Randy Gurzi
Well if Patrick Surtain, Sr. has his way, this could be where his son is drafted. When speaking with Nick and Cecil on 104.3 The Fan during the offseason, Surtain —‚ who spent 11 years in the NFL with the Kansas City Chiefs and Miami Dolphins praised the Broncos organization saying they would be a great fit for his son.
"“I told him, Denver is a great city and has a great organization,” Senior told The FAN via Luke Patterson of Mile High Huddle. “If that does happen on draft night and we’re coming to the Mile-High City, get ready!”"
The former NFL Pro Bowler was also willing to say what sets his son apart, calling him a “technician” before breaking his game down a little more.
"“He has tremendous ball skills, comes up and tackles, he does it all. He understands zone concepts and he’s going to be a very smart player, a player who’s already a pro going into the league. Obviously, there’s some things that he has to work on as he’s not a finished product, to say the least but that’s what the coaches get paid the big bucks for in the league.”"
In this mock, the elder Surtain seems prophetic as Surtain II lands with the Broncos at No. 9. They focused heavily on offense last season and now, they start to rebuild their defense by landing a potential lock-down cornerback.
