2021 NFL Mock Draft: Patriots get Trevor Lawrence in all-trades, chaos edition
(Pick via Seahawks) – The Steelers jumped ahead of the Jets to grab Harris, which stings a bit. However, being able to take Travis Etienne should ease the blow just a bit. Running back is always a risk in the first round but, as the Jets now try to build an offense with Derek Carr at the helm and with some strong free agency signings, New York could really open up that side of the ball by putting the Clemson playmaker into the fold.
Etienne is unlike Harris is that his calling card is his game-breaking speed. When he gets into open space, he has an extra gear that leaves opposing defenders breathing in his dust as they fail to chase him down. He’s also another great pass-catcher at the running back position, making the Jets a more dynamic unit that is capable of attacking in multiple ways.
Trade: Chiefs send No. 31 and 136 to Titans (via Steelers) for No. 24 overall – Eyeing a third-straight trip to a Super Bowl with Patrick Mahomes at the helm (and hoping to make it two titles in three years), the Chiefs can’t afford to hope an offensive tackle that suits them falls to the 31st overall pick. So they make a deal with the Titans, their second trade of the first round, to go up and get Oklahoma State’s Teven Jenkins.
Jenkins is an absolute mauler on the edge who has the best punch of the offensive tackle class. Moreover, his experience playing in an Air Raid type offense should give him somewhat of an easy transition to the high-octane Chiefs offense. He will need some adjustments with his footwork to compete with NFL pass–rushers but his overall game is ready for him to be a nice addition to shore up the front in Kansas City after cutting both starting tackles this offseason.
