NFL Draft: Re-grading every first round pick from the 2018 NFL Draft
NFL Draft: Re-grading every first round pick from the 2018 NFL Draft: Number 20 overall, C Frank Ragnow
There were too many issues to address for the Detroit Lions during the 2018 NFL Draft but they seemingly solved some of their persistent problems on the offensive line. Frank Ragnow has been moved around but has mostly found a home at the center spot.
Things didn’t come easy for the University of Arkansas player as his protection needed a ton of work. Defenders would consistently bull rush their way through him and put pressure on former quarterback Matt Stafford. He cleaned things up after two years of working on his craft and now, he’s widely regarded as one of, if not the very best center in the league.
Just this past year, Ragnow played in 929 offensive snaps and was called for only three penalties and didn’t allow a single sack. With the first Pro Bowl selection of his career under his belt, Ragnow figures to have plenty more to come. He could, however, be hampered by a notoriously bad Detroit Lions franchise that seldom makes a playoff appearance.
All things considered, Ragnow has been exactly what they’ve been looking for, but we can’t give him one of the highest grades from his draft class mostly because of his struggles his first two years in the league.
