NFL Draft: Greatest pick from each franchise’s history
NFL Draft: Greatest pick from each franchise’s history: Seattle Seahawks, QB Russell Wilson
Pick: 2012 NFL Draft, 3rd round number 75 overall
Stats:
- 33,946 passing yards
- 267 passing touchdowns
- 65.1 completion percentage
Awards:
- 7 time Pro Bowler
- 1 time Super Bowl Champion
Current players are difficult to add to this list. More times than not, they either don’t have the accolades or lack the counting stats needed to fully make their case.
When it comes to Russell Wilson however, his place in Seattle Seahawks history is already cemented.
Although players such as Matt Hasselback and Dave Krieg have donned a Seahawks uniform longer than he has, none of those aforementioned players have put together the sort of numbers that Wilson has. He is already the franchise leader in passing yards with 33,946, passing touchdowns with 267 and his career completion percentage of 65.1 ranks amongst the best.
Wilson has essentially worn every hat in his football career. He was considered a game manager early on as he rode the coattails of the “Legion of Boom” to a Super Bowl title in 2014 and another appearance, to a Pro Bowl caliber guy. Now, Wilson is firmly considered a top-three quarterback if not the very best.
To think, Wilson is only 32 years of age and could be at the very beginning of his prime. By the time he hangs up his cleats, his numbers will be astronomical.
