3-Round 2021 NFL Mock Draft: Broncos, Bears trade up for quarterbacks
By Randy Gurzi
33. Jacksonville Jaguars: Alex Leatherwood, OL, Alabama
Round 2 gets kicked off with the Jaguars adding protection for Trevor Lawrence in the form of Alex Leatherwood. He’s been a tackle at Bama but there are reports he could move to guard. Either way, he’s a starter for this line right away.
34. Los Angeles Chargers via (New York Jets): Eric Stokes, CB, Georgia
Trade: New York Jets send pick No. 34 to the Los Angeles Chargers for pick No. 47, No. 159 (Round 5), and No. 241 (Round 7)
Los Angeles adds Eric Stokes here, a burner at cornerback who could help that defense get back on track.
35. Atlanta Falcons: Samuel Cosmi, OT, Texas
Samuel Cosmi could be the first Texas offensive lineman in several years to go in Round 1, or he could be right on the outside of it. In this mock, it’s the latter as he joins the Falcons early in the second.
36. Miami Dolphins (via Houston Texans): Javonte Williams, RB, North Carolina
Another running back who can carry the load, Javonte Williams would be a huge add for the Dolphins’ offense.
37. Philadelphia Eagles: Pat Freiermuth, TE, Penn State
Zach Ertz seems to be on the way out, so the Philadelphia Eagles get a potential replacement in Penn State tight end Pat Freiermuth.
38. Cincinnati Bengals: Liam Eichenberg, OT, Notre Dame
They gambled by not taking an offensive tackle in the first round, but the Bengals luck out as Liam Eichenberg is available at No. 38. He can be a huge upgrade at tackle for them and they still landed Ja’Marr Chase. This would be their biggest win since their new uniform unveiling.
39. Carolina Panthers: Kelvin Joseph, CB, Kentucky
Carolina gets a potential starting cornerback at No. 39 in Kentucky’s Kelvin Joseph.
40. Denver Broncos: Zaven Collins, LB, Tulsa
Denver needs to add linebackers on defense and they end up with a solid on here in Zaven Collins. This is a bit of a slide for him but the Broncos would be happy to get a talented player who might have a chip on his shoulder.
41. Detroit Lions: Asante Samuel, JR., CB, Florida State
Another former NFL player’s son in this draft is added as the Detroit Lions pick up Asante Samuel, Jr. here.
42. New York Giants: Jamin Davis, LB, Kentucky
Jamin Davis has been climbing boards as of late and this might be a bit late for him. If he does slide this far, the Giants will be happy to stop the slide.
43. San Francisco 49ers: Landon Dickerson, IOL, Alabama
They got an Alabama quarterback in the first, now they get an Alabama lineman in the second. Drafting from winning organizations is usually a good thing.
44. Dallas Cowboys: Jalen Mayfield, OT, Michigan
This one is tough because the Cowboys need to land a safety and they need more help at defensive end. However, they also have to be ready for another season without Tyron Smith who is struggling to stay healthy. That’s why they go with Jalen Mayfield here.
45. Jacksonville Jaguars (via Minnesota Vikings): Rondale Moore, WR, Purdue
Another weapon for Trevor Lawrence, Rondale Moore is a stud who can pour on the yards after the catch.
46. New Orleans Saints (via New England Patriots): Amari Rodgers, WR, Clemson
New Orleans is on the clock for the first time after making their trade with the Patriots and they land Amari Rodgers here. Rodgers would be a solid No. 2 wideout across from Michael Thomas, something they desperately need.
47. New York Jets (via Los Angeles Chargers): Tyson Campbell, CB, Georgia
An earlier trade with the Chargers puts the Jets on the clock here and they end up with Tyson Campbell from Georgia. All the hype is focused on Eric Stokes right now, but Campbell is no slouch either.
48. Las Vegas Raiders: Levi Onwuzurike, IDL, Washington
Maurice Hurst was unexpectedly released and now the Raiders replace him with Levi Onwuzurike from Washington.
